The Tendergrass story began in 1999 when John Paul Houston purchased a 60-acre farm in Floyd County, Virginia to raise his eight children. What started as producing wholesome meat for his family evolved into a local meat production, processing, and distribution business.
In 2011, David Maren married John Paul’s daughter, Ann, and took on the role of General Manager. He quickly identified that developing sustainable sales and distribution channels for quality meat products was both the greatest opportunity and challenge – a challenge that existed across the entire meat and poultry industry.
Today, Tendergrass has evolved into the leading meat and poultry supply management company in the US, specializing in creating order and predictability in chaotic supply chains. We provide turnkey solutions for manufacturers and processors seeking reliability without sacrificing quality standards. Our current focus is on delivering specialized poultry programs that maintain organic, antibiotic-free, and clean label attributes while remaining extraordinarily cost-competitive.
